Blue Mountains, Australia

So we took a train from the Sydney International Airport to Katoomba station. Yes, it is actually very accessible. Of course if you wish to drive you can always rent a Car from one of the Australian Car Rental Websites, such as Budget Car Rentals and Hertz. Or if you want get the cheapest rental you can go to vroomvroomvroom to compare the prices among the various car rental services and get the cheapest fare!

The train was empty and quiet and I’d have to say that the train ride was rather long and slowww. Some might find it boring, but it’s actually one of the many things that I love about Australia, it is slow-paced, tranquil and peaceful. In about 2 hrs time we alighted at Katoomba Station and we quickly found our way to The Carrington Hotel, as it was just around the corner.

We stayed in The Carrington for 3D2N and I love love love how exquisite and vintage it is. The Carrington Hotel was founded as far back as 1883 so it has actually been around for 100 over years. :O So, if you are a great fan of the graceful and elegant ancient European style of living and architecture (just like me) but never get the chance to experience, Carrington is definitely the place to go.:) I was very impressed with its antique and ‘semi-manual’ lifts cos we had to somehow open and close the lift door manually. :O But It was fun and one of a kind, you’ll hardly find another one to play around nowadays.

Next, we took the cable car to tour around the mountains and the picture below was taken from the inside of cable car. There is something unique about this cable car as it is ‘glass-floored’ meaning you can actually look through the floor and get a beautiful bird view of the mountains I suppose. However, I said ‘I suppose’ cos only the centre of the floor is made of glass and the cable car was filled with visitor, so we didn’t actually get the chance to step on the glass floor and experience it first hand. 🙁

Finally, this is us when we were somewhat on top of the mountain (well, not exactly the top, but we did our best :P) . The view was simply breathtaking and we loved Blue Mountains so much that we were actually contemplating to retire here in future:).
